DIY Epoxy Garage Floor | Protect Your Garage From Stains, Salt, Oil, & More!

Today we're doing a DIY on Rust-Oleum's Epoxyshield garage floor kits in Canada. Follow along to see the transformation! PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: https://teespring.com/stores/prn Today's video is not sponsored by Rust-Oleum. We were invited by friends of the show to film their DIY epoxy garage floor process to see how you can do your own garage in the course of a week and save thousands over the cost of a company doing it for you. The steps for this specific product are outlined in this video but for the most part the process is about the same depending on which kit and product you go with. The most important part is step one, and that's to clear out the garage floor of everything including tires, tool shelves, cars, pets, birds, signage, treasure chests, antique breweries, David Duchovny, and anything else directly sitting on the floor of the garage. We recommend moving everything out that you might need access to, or might get damaged if exposed to water, as this entire process can take up to a week from start to finish. After the flooring and area is void of clutter you'll need to wash the surface. A regular garden hose will work, but we do recommend a pressure washer if available. In climates like ours here in Québec, Canada, it is recommended to scrape off any salt/de-icing deposits that may be on the surface in order to ensure a proper adhesion with the epoxy. Once the surface has been cleaned and dried you'll need to use the acid etch mixture and cleaner that comes with this specific product in order to wash away any other contaminants as well as to prepare the concrete surface to adhere to the epoxy. At this time it's important to note that this specific product recommends to only paint when the ambient air temperature is between 16ºC and approximately 32ºC, however if you have a climate controlled garage you can work around that. You must wait a minimum of 24 hours after the acid etch before you can begin the epoxy process, in this case it took about 36 hours before it was ready. Another step if needed is to fill any cracks in the concrete with a concrete repair kit. Hairline cracks might not be a worry, but large ones will need to be done. The next step is to mix the epoxy solution together. This specific product requires you to complete the painting process 2 hours after you begin mixing the product. As we had approximately 16ºC weather we had to wait 30 minutes after mixing before you could apply the epoxy, warmer temperatures will allow you to start sooner. We recommend having multiple paint rollers available and to mix all kit solutions together for a consistent, even finish throughout the entire garage. Work in a 150cm x 150cm square area at a time, applying enough epoxy to cover the surface, then sprinkling the eggshell anti-slip pieces throughout. In this case an additional anti-slip solution from Rust-Oleum was mixed into the epoxy. After painting you must wait at least 24 hours before you can touch or walk on the surface, 48 hours total before you can move lighter items onto the surface, and 3 full days from completion before you can drive on the epoxy. The Death of Auto Shows Forever | Toronto & Montreal Go Virtual in 202110:54
The Death of Auto Shows Forever | Toronto & Montreal Go Virtual in 2021
4 years ago

Earlier today the two major international Auto Shows in Canada announced virtual-only shows for 2021. We discuss. PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: https://teespring.com/stores/prn We all know 2020 has been a strange year, and the automotive world has been affected heavily because of it. We managed to attend both the Salon de l'Auto de Montréal and the Canadian International Auto Show (Toronto) this past year, and it might have been our last. Today both shows announced they'll be moving forward with an online-only format for 2021. But we discuss the larger ramifications of this and how auto shows in general will be conducted in our future. It's not just for 2021, we believe that the format we're used to for auto shows from the past is gone, and we'll be entering a new normal. So far no information has been provided by the Canadian International Auto Show as to how the show will be conducted, the press release sent out today goes over the health risks associated with the show moving forward, and mentions this virtual show will be for 2021 as the in-person show will be postponed until 2022. They do claim this will be the world's first virtual auto show, and they say they plan on making it a proper show by encouraging manufacturers to participate. The organizers of the Salon de l'Auto de Montréal have a bit more information on their press release, stating the show will run from the 20th of January until the 24th, and will include 3D floor plan walkthroughs, new vehicles, and manufacturer specials based on involvement. The Montreal Auto Show also says tickets to this virtual-only show will be free - big whoop!
