In this easy drawing tutorial, the third in my series on drawing basics:- Edges not Outlines, I look at drawing folds in paper. The same method can be used to draw folds in clothes or any other similar objects. In this tutorial I explain how to draw the folded paper accurately. This method can be used extensively in still life drawings.
I show how to light the folded paper to get strong shadows so the edges show. I explain how to look for sharp and soft edges and show how to draw these using a 6B pencil and small pieces of Graphite.
I show how to create soft and subtle tones by varying the pressure on the pencils and graphite. This easy drawing tutorial is designed for beginners and those wishing to improve their own drawing skills and to understand how to create a tonal drawing.
