Low Guard Boxing - Pros and Cons | Olympic Coach Wayne Gordon and Nate Bower
VoteLow Guard Boxing - Pros and Cons | Olympic Coach Wayne Gordon and Nate Bower
The low guard is more of an advanced move, and you're taking the greater risk. It is much more entertaining and exciting to watch because you take a greater risk. You probably will get hit more, but you're going to give you more opportunity to hit your opponent. So when you hit on even on the heavyweight, you want to give your opponent the target to hit. But you have to hit him first or hit him when he misses you. The optimal word here is to make sure he misses. The low guard is that you still keep one hand high as you become more comfortable. You may want to put both hands down; it will give you a great opportunity of hitting your opponent. If you start off the low guard where you get comfortable, you keep your right hand is used primarily for defense. And that once your opponent throws the punch at you, you're in close range, you're able to counter much quicker using the low guard approach. Keeping your left-hand low, the great counter punches the punch comes at your right hand or left hand. Once it misses, you have a greater opportunity of landing your left hook.
