You could probably see this move from miles away. Tube wants to become Netflix, but without anything good to watch. Use Utreon!

Tube has so much content that I want to see but I despise its format and policy, so I truly hope sites like this pick up.
I remember when my daughter was born how nice it was that she could grow up in a country where race no longer really mattered. She is half asian. Unfortunately all the years of advancement since my childhood and my parents childhood have been wiped out since my daughter was born. Today EVERYTHING is about race. I thought we had gotten so far past that. But now everything is about getting people hating each other. Anyone someone disagrees with today just has to throw the word racist at them and not justify their hate towards the person they disagree with in any other way. We went from some people truly being racist during my parents childhood, to much fewer people being racist when I was a kid, to hardly anybody being racist when my daughter was born, to today where race rules everything. I is a sad, backward sliding society.
I never knew your daughter was Hapa. That's neat!
The good thing is that most normal people don't automatically think of everything in terms of race. Big Tech, the media, Hollyweird, etc., have been trying to divide us all and push for ahistorical, racist nonsense like "Critical Race Theory," but there's been pushback. People aren't buying what the elites are peddling. Even where I am (California, one of the nuttiest states in the union), most people just want to live their lives in harmony.
It is often disappointing to hear about things in the news, but I do believe there's hope. America has seen far worse (e.g. 8 years of Woodrow Wilson, 12 years of FDR, etc.) and I don't think the American Experiment is over just yet.
It's a shame what has happened to YouTube. A tool of a soulless corporation funded by bigwigs and hedge funds to divide the populace to distract us from the real issues. The Occupy Wall Street movement was the pivot for what we are seeing today. The dislike removal is pretty obvious for why they're implementing it. My theory is that too many government and corporation channels keep getting dislikes and are furious that the commoners are fed up with them.
Besides that part, keep up the uploads. I like learning more about strategy games ever since I became a fan of them when I played Medieval Total War and Rome Total War many years ago.
Yeah, I didn't say it in the video, but I suspect the actual reason Tube is removing dislikes is because too many people are chanting "Let's Go Brandon!" People are sick of having content shoved down their throats that they don't want to watch. The fundamental problem is a borked algorithm, but Tube has an agenda to push, so here we are.
I'm glad you like the videos. If you ever have the time, I'd be interested if you ever wanted to upload stuff too. Utreon could certainly use more content, and I think you know a good deal about wrestling and gaming that it'd make for an interesting perspective.
I don't usually mention, or really think about, my daughters' race. While her heritage is a part of who she is it is very much a small part. She is so much more. While she was born in the SF Bay Area she mostly grew up here in Rural Pennsylvania. I was a little concerned how the locals would treat her when we first moved back here when she was 6. Like I said there was still a few racist people I knew when I was growing up here in the 60s and 70s. But actually not very many. My daughter is now 30 and she says she never had any problems growing up here. Nobody cared about her race. In fact she found more racism in Chicago when she lived there. Mostly soft-racism where people would automatically assume her beliefs (wrongly) because of her looks. And sometimes outright racism by city people. Something she never experienced here in hicksville.
Now she has moved back here from Chicago and is very content homesteading with her boyfriend and producing and editing online videos.
I do like your positive outlook on the future. I sincerely hope you are correct.
One of the greatest myths that the cultural zeitgeist has sold us is that it's the "backwater, conservative redneck farmers" who are the racists ruining society. As I meet more people though, I find it's the opposite - it's ivory tower elitists and urbanites who are the most racist, prejudiced people I've met. I tend to get along better with working class, blue-collar folks!
It's part of why I recently had a lot of fun with a game called "Children of the Zodiarcs." There's a Jeffersonian message to be gleaned from that game about how big cities invariably lead to corruption and division. Places like Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Detroit, et al, are some of the worst places to live because of those sort of things.
Sorry, I replied to the wrong post.
I made an account on here in some attempt to move away from YouTube. And I'm hoping more people will move away from Youtube.
Hopefully YouTube's barely living corpse finally lets out it's last breath soon so that people can finally break away from it and go to somewhere like this website.
I discovered UTREON and Odysee through your videos first back when Tube started showing adds on small creators videos ( like mine ). I setup here and on Odysee after watching your content.
With this latest move by Tube, I decided to start uploading some content exclusively to UTREON & Odysee. Thanks for highlighting an alternative.
I remember that at one point in time, Tube updated the algorithm to prevent gaming videos from showing up on the front page because they got too popular. Tube has always pushed a specific agenda, whether we could see it or not. Now, it’s just increasingly obvious and impossible to fight against.
This made me think of Philippians 4:8. We need to combat this agenda by focusing on positive and pure things.
That one is my grandmother's favorite Bible verse. And although I'm not religious anymore, I can totally respect the message there. A lot of what's going on is disheartening and disappointing, but there's always a silver lining, and there are always positive things to focus on.
That's a big part of why I play video games, at any rate!
I agree with a lot of what you say. For one, The structure of the site makes it so that commentary/drama videos are more likely to succeed because they cover topics in a manner similar to news. We've seen dozens of YouTubers transition from simply gaming to becoming commentators like CR1TiKaL, SomeOrdinaryGamers, and others. And most of the time, they will literally be covering the exact same topic. I like their style and personality, but having to look at "Totally Not Mark gets 150 copyright claims" 3 separate times makes it really egregious when going through the subscriptions feed on mobile. And on the topic of race politics, I think it's funny how YouTube preaches for "(Minority race) representation" when they don't even pay attention to the most famous minority content creators on the site such as Zanny (Filipino), CoryxKenshin, SomeOrdinaryGamers, KneeCaps, or even VanossGaming (Evan Fong, Asian) with 25 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS. And putting aside YouTube's ongoing problems such as porn/scam comment bots, copyright abuse, and inconsistent TOS, I think after the removal of dislikes, it's not going to be much longer until YouTube implodes on itself with its barrage of awful decisions. We're going to see people looking for better alternatives to that once-glorious site, and it's sad, seeing a site that I spent a lot of time on as a kid, go down in ashes.
My theory about the whole race politicking is that Tube (and much of the mainstream apparatus) is just trying to divide us. I try not to let them succeed!
The good news is that Utreon exists now, and perhaps other challengers to the mainstream machine will rise up. I believe that the next wave of the internet will be much more decentralized, sort of like how the first wave of the web was. That'll likely be more healthy than the overly-centralized, monopolistic model we have currently with Big Tech.
So that's why I try to do my part to promote the use of Alt Tech and decentralization (e.g. creating your own blog, making your own website, using alternative videosharing sites). I'm trying to stay true to my SRPG theme and not just become "yet another commentary" channel like those others you mentioned, but this is stuff that directly affects me so I feel it's right to talk about it occasionally.
I agree. We should encourage other, more free video sharing alternatives to encourage the mainstream ones to compete. And I'm glad that you won't stray from your SRPG niche and succumb to commentary pressure. You're a genuinely reasonable person. And even though Utreon has its own problems that it needs to address such as investment scam comments and the lack of the ability to delete comments, I'm sure that it has the potential to become a better alternative to YouTube!
Hi! I found your yt channel while looking for another platform for my videos and watched the one you posted about being on Utreon. I really liked it because it showed how Utreon works and, now that I'm here, I'm really enjoying the functionality.
It's ironic that yt promotes videos that are, in their view, wrong and inappropriate while also banning certain videos that say what they don't like. One of the things I don't like about them (and there's a lot) is the question they send to me once in a while asking what my nationality is and other 'factors' of my 'being'. They say they want to diversify and showcase certain individual types. I'm sorry... but they are the one of the groups (if you will) creating division and causing racism, etc. I declined to answer their survey.
At the moment, I have 4 channels on yt (poetry reading, phone gaming, vlog, & the one that mirrors this one... That Thought). None of my channels will be banned because I do not post anything that would infuriate the royalty running yt. That said... I might want to question things or post things that DO cause controversy and if that's the case, yt is not the place for me because I feel differently then they do.
So here I am and I thank you for your video pointing me here. I hope Utreon makes it through all the crap happening to different video platform solutions. I've tried Odysee and Rumble and, I can post most anything there, but they aren't as user friendly as Utreon.
Dislikes on yt have become a way for some trolls to knock creators down the list so their videos won't be on the platform anymore. I don't hit the dislike button mainly because, if I don't like a video, I simply move on and remove it from my viewing history.
Hey, glad to hear that you're also liking Utreon! It's always nice to see more people checking out the site. Yes, I agree that things like nationality are not very important; a videosharing site should only ask about them insofar as it helps to sort things by language, but that's clearly what Tube is doing.
I don't hit the dislike button mainly because, if I don't like a video, I simply move on and remove it from my viewing history.
The world needs more people like you!
That's a good point regarding language. I can see a site asking what your first language is and perhaps secondary languages you plan to utilize but other than that... there is no true purpose that doesn't equate to some sort of discrimination.
More like me... lol... well, maybe when it comes to managing my own watch list. ;-)
That site just gets shittier every day. No surprise there. More and more people are realizing that Tube isn't what it used to be. Pretty sad how much it has declined, but at least it had a good run for a while. It's easy to tell how desperate they are getting nowadays, like with their stupid "shorts" feature and now this crap. It won't be long before huge waves of people give up on the site and look for better alternatives.
Good idea about planning to disable comments and ratings on Tube. All the more reason for people to check out Utreon and give it a chance.
