BabyZone vs IGN: Stealing, Plagiarism, and Copyright Infringement

When YouTuber BabyZone accused gaming juggernaut IGN (and its partner IGN Brasil) of stealing Mortal Kombat 11 deepfake videos, any number of questions were raised about the nature of the alleged stealing, the relationship between IGN and IGN Brasil, and what protections (including the DMCA) are afforded to derivative works.

What did IGN take from BabyZone (by its own admission)?

How does IGN operate so many foreign subsidiaries, and why should they be concerned with IGN Brasil's response?

And just how does the nature of BabyZone's content make IP identification (and DMCA usage) more difficult?

Uploading other people's videos as your own will always present problems...in Virtual Legality.
