I present to you one of the easiest DIY tech projects streaming games to your TV. I've played around with all flavors of Steam Link including the iOS & Android, Samsung app, and of course the OG Steam Link box itself. While we're still not to a point in game streaming technology where hardware is basically obsolete, the Steam Link is one of the coolest things in my gaming toolkit. With Valve releasing the Steam Deck it seems the going logic would have you basically plug a gaming computer into your TV or take it on the go. Well the Steam Link and technologies like it mean to upset the need for hardware. Now I can say the WiFi performance (considering individual setups) leaves some wanting to be had. Ethernet however results in a fantastic experience with very little lag and a perfect picture.
