In this video Dr. Rebecca Futo Kennedy puts race and ethnicity into perspective when it comes to ancient history, how we should use it and how we should view it.

She defines race / ethnicity, explains its modern conflation spurred on by nationhood and nationalism and really debunks many common misconceptions about these modern definitions, and how they are misused and abused when it comes to ancient history and misrepresenting the past.

She also explains how OUR modern concepts in many cases don't fit in with the past. Were there racial constructs in the ancient world?

What is more important is ancient identity and how the ancients viewed their own identity and the others around them.
