With theaters across the world closed and movies sitting on shelves, movie studios like Universal, Sony, and Disney have each taken their own approach to navigating the new world order.
Universal, the most aggressive of the three, immediately put its currently available films on in-home streaming (PVOD), and even more aggressively released a theater-bound family film, Trolls: World Tour, without even a day of theatrical exhibition.
It's the latter move that's caused quite the stir, as it's success has caused Universal to at least present as considering whether to upend the current theatrical business model, even for major releases.
A fact that theater chain AMC Entertainment is not at all interested in ignoring...
