Conservatives have a habit of latching on to the early Republican party, especially when the Civil War is a matter of discussion, but do modern Conservatives actually align with the Republican party of old? Or would they find themselves more in line with the Confederate South, despite the dominance of the Democrat party in the South during that time. There's a great misunderstanding of the dynamic between the two that should be dispelled, especially now with the recent proposal of secession by Texas, the overturning of Roe v Wade. Many on the left are pointing to Conservatives and drawing connections to the Confederacy, something that has been done for years, but are they wrong? And should Conservatives really be offended by this?
