The FN Model 1900 and Remington Model 8 represent the first wildly successful commercial semi-auto rifles, and they were an immediate hit with both hunters and law enforcement. The later Remington Model 81 made some minor improvements, but it was still very much the same rifle that John Moses Browning had designed at the dawn of the century. Chambered in 300 Savage (which is comparable to modern .308), this Remington 81 will make a stellar deer rifle... but its biggest shortcoming is its poor optics mounting solutions... until now....
