Rest in Peace Spitfire - A Journey to Discovery
VoteThere is nothing in this video that is inappropriate or gross. It is my breakdown of what happened and the reasons why. Even though it was hard going through the weeks of issue with Spitfire, the making of this video seemed to hit home. Spitfire was a sweet chicken and the only Sagitta breed that I had. I believe the main reason this happened was due to how difficult it was for her to lay eggs from the very beginning. It seemed a very painful process for her and her breed is supposed to ultimately lay very large eggs. This video takes us through my frustrations trying to determine if there was truly something wrong or if she was having issues with the heat that lead to eating issues. It's hard not to feel a failure to Spitfire as she only lived for 343 days and that just doesn't seem long enough. I knew there was a chance I might lose one this first year as a new chicken owner but I still hoped it would not happen. I watch my other four chickens very closely to be sure I catch and deal with things as early as possible.
