Asheville To Chattanooga - Day 4 - 9000 Mile Coast to Coast Solo Motorcycle TripVote
Today, I'm finally turning west. After three days heading south I turn towards Chattanooga as I leave Asheville. The rain is on and off and I get caught in a torrential downpour along the Ocoee River. Untroubled by the rain I take in the beautiful skies and arrive in time for a tour of Ruby Falls.
Today has two practical highlights for any traveler passing through these parts. The first is The Beaucatcher motel which was one of the best values on the entire trip. Clean, updated, parking right in front of the room door, and with an awesome courtyard area. And one of my favorite food stops on the entire trip. Carlotta's in Hayesville, NC serving great food with tastes from New Orleans.
On the way to Chattanooga I enjoy the towns of Franklin, NC and Cleveland, TN, and I pass by Lake Chatuge through Cherokee National Forest. In Canton, NC I spot the impressive Evergreen Packing Plant.
If you are into infrastructure, the Ocoee River and the Ocoee Dams are interesting points of interest featuring a series of low head and high head damns used for flood control and by TVA for power generation.
