Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America is a novel written by Erik Larson. It’s a historian non-fiction book, even if some of the facts regarding HH Holmes have been called into question in recent years. But in any case, it tells the story of the 1893 Chicago fair from the viewpoint of the architects, such as Daniel Burnham, and his building of the fair and the struggles he had to overcome. Simultaneously, we follow the story of HH Holmes, who is widely regarded as America’s first modern serial killer, who lured his female victims to their death by charming them into his elaborately-built home, dubbed the murder castle. It was set to be a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese.
Keanu Reeves, who recently starred in The Matrix Resurrections, is in talks to star in the series.
