I appreciate the time spent on the historical firearms and black powder era, very cool to see it used on the clock and against other competitors! Having used an 1858 and a 38 jframe, I'm not shocked that the 1853 in 38 was competitive against the jframes with the better "stock" grip (imo) and barrel length. If the snubbies were air-weights, I'd guess the 1853 was better for felt recoil as well. Great video and good times shooting!
