The Republic of Indonesia is very commonly considered to be a rising Superpower, but really, could and will Indonesia become a Superpower? It stands as one of the largest and most populated countries on the planet, rivaling Mexico in size, and being on track to pass the US in population in a matter of years, not to mention boasting a very impressive economy for a newly developed country, but behind all that lies an unstable foundation that goes back to Indonesia's days as a Dutch colony comprising tens of thousands of islands, and hundreds of languages and conflicting ethnic groups, which the country was only able to keep together post-independence through the use of authoritarian measures. Today Indonesia's government promotes democratization and regional autonomy, if they are sincere, will simply reinforce the divides within the country by allowing each region to become increasingly different in its character and agenda, while if the government doesn't intend on carrying these policies out, will only reinforce dominant Javanese rule, and cause much disdain for the Java-centric government from the other islands. This is why the collapse and break up of Indonesia is inevitable.
