Part 3 of this tour covers Pithole Ghost Town. An oil boom town in Pennsylvania from 1865. It is near my cabin and where I took my name from. Pithole City actually is named for Pithole Creek. The creek was named Pithole based on ancient holes along the creek which would leak natural gas and were blamed for some illness and death of people unaware they were breathing concentrations of it. The Earth is very gaseous and the pressure needs to be relieved at times.
The Pithole Hermit documents a bit of his off-grid life in the hills of Northern Pennsylvania. Including wild edibles, hiking, fishing and hunting. www.pithole.com .
