The Ruby is simple and of barely adequate quality for a service pistol but nonetheless rugged and reliable. It is often the case however, that the user can't disassemble it for cleaning.

Exactly, and the fact that many have this problem makes us think it was probably brushed over. If it ready was an issue then a local armourer could deal with it. Far more important just to get the pistols to the front line.
