In this episode Alex Iles takes us to Newcastle Castle which is a medieval fortification in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, built on the site of the fortress that gave the City of Newcastle its name.
Originally a wooden fortification it would suffer a fire and the under the architectural revolution of Henry II it would be transformed into the awesome Keep and Fortress that we have today that towers over a modern city.
While touring the castle Alex brings on David Silk who is an expert from the castle who discusses how awesome and fun it is to work at a historical landmark and help keep history alive. From fun stories about the castle to a vicious siege by William Wallace, to the history of its construction this episode covers a variety of topics as it literally brings you to history itself and what it has left us today.
