356: Death to Deconstruction w. Joshua S. Porter (Showbread) - Punk Rock, Anarchy, & Practical Jesus

The moment I saw the effeminate mascara emo kid in cutoff jean shorts and cowboy boots (but in an emo way somehow), screaming his guts out all over that little encore stage at Cornerstone, I was instantly a fan of Josh (Dies) Porter.
After several albums and my high school band being all high school giddy to open for Showbread a time or two, I fell off. Idk why, it wasn’t intentional. The art was always fascinating to me, complex and challenging but I often didn’t understand it, so I guess I just gave up and lost interest… Call me melodramatic, but it’s a lot like how my relationship with god has been, for the entirety of my adult life… that is, until Josh’s book just magically dropped into my bathtub.
In his incredible new book Death to Deconstruction, Josh pulls no punches targeting not only the post-christian, post-evangelical, deconstruction movement, but the cozy complacent western christianity world as well.
No joke, this book is blowing my mind and I highly recommend it.
