Bewitched is a cautionary tale about voodoo black magic and the film presents it in such a way that the filmmakers almost say “yeah. We know black magic probably isn’t real… but if it were real, you would have to watch out for all of this”. At times it almost feels like a manual of black magic spells. There are segments where it teaches you how to perform these different spells and what ingredients you will need to do so. It almost feels like a hong kong version of Haxen. Haxen painted historical European witchcraft into tales of fiction while Bewitch does something similar to Hong Kong voodooism. It all works extremely well in both cases, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Storywise, what should you expect when you watch 1981s Bewitched? Watch and find out!
