Fire Emblem Gaiden ā FE's Sophomore Slump
5A huge letdown compared to the legendary FE1. But it's still a good game that tried a lot of new ideas... for better or for worse.

I cannot stay mad at this game. The mis-translation, the Ragnarok bug, and the ridiculous grind on bland, enormous maps all defined this game to ancient memory. For whatever reason I would not care to play it without the fantastic "translation" of old.
I unironically agree that bad translation = best translation lol. You probably enjoy the game a lot more than I do, and I dig that. It's one of my least favorite FEs, but it's certainly a unique experience, and I find it neat if you fancy it.
Between FE2's absolutely trash-tier map design, obnoxiously low hit rates, and the unmitigated spamfests that are fights against summoners, I simply couldn't bring myself to finish the game--not even in its improved SoV form.
I hope you like SoV when you play it, its biggest problem is that it doesn't change enough about the original, but it at least moves as fast as the other 3DS games, and despite its massive flaws, many people find it fun to play. Make sure to get the free DLC "Mila's Bounty 1-5," which adds more replay value. The Gaiden translation you used arguably isn't the best one, there's a newer one, but a new translation of an NES game isn't anything to write about. I'm interested in your eventual FE1 review; I often praise FE1 for a lot of its design which I believe still holds up (and some of it, like map design and balance is much better than Awakening and Three Houses). Will you ever do a video on FE3? I feel like that game is forgotten about far too often. To me, it feels like the equivalent of a AAA release on the SNES/SFC. Sorry this is kind of run-on, but I'm using the mobile app and afaik it doesn't let me skip lines like pressing shift + enter on a keyboard would.
I'll eventually want to cover FE3. The eventual goal is to go over every FE game... except Fates and Heroes. Maybe I'll even cover Warriors at some point, idk.
I do agree FE3 is amazing though. It's about as classic as FE gets, even if it's sadly the one that seems to be forgotten most these days.
