Substack is a platform that lets anyone create a newsletter and publish directly to their subscribers. And corporate journalists HATE it. They are now shrieking for it to be censored and shut down based on imaginary grievances and baseless accusations of "disinformation." What it's really about is that they can't stand that writers are successful on Substack without the seal of approval of a big corporate media institution. Rather than compete with these successful writers, journalists are now calling to shut it all down.
So the group of people who should be the most vociferous advocates for freedom of speech, advocates for a plurality of voices, advocates of engaging with ideas on the merits has become the loudest chorus calling for state and corporate crackdown on the ability of anyone who disagrees with them to speak freely.

Our society and politics appear to be on the edge of a precipice. If we are to avoid violence, the only tools we have at our disposal are dialogue and conversation.
