Over the past few decades, the pub industry has had to put up with increasing regulation that inhibits the ability to make a decent living. First came the smoking ban and tax and duty continued to increase, but it's not until now, with the Covid crisis that the final nail appears to be being driven into the heart of an essential institution of the British Isles. The place where we, our parents, grandparents and generations before them have always socialised with friends and loved ones, laughed, listened to problems, helped each other out, settled arguments and so on.
