Up until fairly recently I've been using NerdTree as my file explorer in Vim and overall it's been an excellent experience but I found out that newer versions of Vim actually come with a built in file explorer in the form of Netrw. Out of the box I feel like Netrw is a horrible experience especially when coming from NerdTree but with a few simple tweaks I've got it to the point where I have 99% of the features I want without all the extra stuff I don't need. So in the end is Netrw a good alternative or should you just download NerdTree and move on with your day.
