Judge Joseph Force Crater was a distinguished jurist on the New York Supreme Court. On August 6, 1930, the judge disappeared without a trace, never to be seen again. Some speculated that a jealous lover did the judge in, for he had an affinity for pretty, young showgirls. Others suspect he may have been embroiled in a political scandal that cost him his life.
